"Learning violin as an adult presents a different set of challenges than learning as a child. It can be difficult to find time to practice consistently, but Betty has been very patient and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Betty to others seeking to learn to play the violin!" - Judy, adult student
"The most important factor in a child sticking with a musical instrument is the student - teacher relationship. Betty creates a relationship that fosters enthusiasm and encourages a child to excel" - Helen, parent
"I love the way she interacts with the kids- sweet, fun, pleasant, encouraging to excellence without being perfectionistic and pushy." - Jeanne, parent
"Miss Liang talks to you like a friend, not like a teacher. She makes learning violin fun. She is a good teacher whether you are a beginner or expert!" - Bubba, student age 12
"The rapport that easily develops between Ms. Liang and the student inspires greater effort and a joy in learning. She is excellent at introducing new styles and forms into the student's repertoire and always encourages development of the student's own 'voice' and his/her ability to interpret music emotionally and with skill. P.S. She likes tea :)"- Anna, student age 15
"Ms. Betty has been my daughter Anna's teacher since she was 8 years old, and she is now 16. In the early years, Ms. Betty proved to be just the teacher Anna needed, because she allowed Anna to move through the Suzuki pieces at a pace that kept her interested, while never sacrificing the discipline of developing good technique. She quickly introduced additional pieces to pique Anna's curiosity. As Anna has developed, Ms. Betty has provided a great framework for learning: she demands good tone and precise intonation, and she requires that Anna practice. However, during the lessons, there is always humor! Betty plays for, and with, her students, so they regularly experience what quality playing sounds like, and can mirror the posture, with correct bow and finger movements. Anna has learned to work together with a good violinist; and Ms. Betty encourages ensemble activities, in addition to solo pieces at her recitals. Perhaps above all else, Ms. Betty has been a mentor to Anna, and the music they make together is at the core of Anna's life. We, her parents are grateful for Ms. Betty's influence in our daughter's life."- Gillian and Frank, parents
